Influenced by everything 60’s-70’s and somewhere between progressive rock, garage proto-punk and heavy psych, Monstera Deliciosa revives the spirit of old with an enganging and noticeable sound.
The band’s first couple of demos are a dirty and sleazy vintage exercise that is both bizarre and lively. Dr Dekerpel’s vocals sound like a hazy mix between Iggy Pop and Jello Biafra and sit comforable on hypnotic layers of warm ’n fuzzy retro instrumentation. A fascinating, easy and refreshing listen for lovers of the modern past. Promising tunes! Check out Monstera Deliciosa’s really cool and trippy (nsfw) clip for ‘Fill’ below. (Robin Van Oyen)

Turn On, Tune in, drop out. Monstera Deliciosa brings you the retro sound of the future. Heavy Psych garage prog played on 60's and early 70's instrumentarium.
We’re already at the 5th edition of Riffs From Belgium. It’s awesome to discover all the local talent here in Belgium from genres that are way underrated, (beginning) artists that keep the spirit of rock ’n roll alive by doing what they can. Spillshot is from Ghent is such a band.
These guys bring some heavy riffs in the stoner rock tradition with hints of grunge and alternative rock. Their first release from december 2013 sounds really raw and angry. With hints of Helmet, Alice In Chains and The Melvins, Spillshot is searching for a distinct sound that they yet have to find. A solid beginning from a young band with great potential. Check ’em out and support the band below. (Robin Van Oyen)

Play it loud
Hermànn places itself somewhere between psychedelic and stoner rock, and that’s exactly what you’re getting out of their early demos. This young band from Oudenaarde (that’s somewhere in the east of Belgium) is putting out some sweet jams and mostly instrumental that are both heavy and trippy. Hermànn is a bluesy mix of fuzzed out stoner psychedelica that brings back memories of the legendary desert sessions between 1998 and 2003. A raw and unfiltered sonic trip filled with musical anarchy and dusty experimentation.
Crank up the volume and enjoy a mesmerizing desert cruise with a strong edge of grunge and garage rock. Lots of potential here. (Robin Van Oyen)

Fuzzy sounds from outerspace...
Describing their sound as “progressive stoner rock”, Majestic Sun is a nice little band with big potential. This young four piece from Ghent delivers groovy sun-worshipping desert jams that are an absolute joy to hear. A trippy musical experience that combines the sound of palm desert cornerstones like Kyuss, Fatso Jetson and Nebula with touches of post and prog rock reminiscent of Isis, Pelican and Tool.
Majestic Sun offers a diverse and dynamic sound that explores different genres and corners. An exciting listing for any lover of stoner, psych, post and prog rock with a heavy instrumental focus and an array of different influences. (Robin Van Oyen)

Celestial Wolves
Celestial Wolves is a five piece instrumental rock band, formed in 2011, who play atmospheric layered progressive music with stoner and metal influences.
Trip Hazard is a young three-piece based in Ghent, Belgium. Niels Hemelsoet, Simon De Geyter and Arnaud Vandamme got together back in August 2012 to play some serious psyched out 70’s jams. Influences range from the trippy improvisation of bands like Earthless and Tia Carrera to the riff-laden desert ballads of Kyuss and Karma To Burn.
Trip Hazard is all about freeform jamming and energetic experimentation. The sound flows groove to groove with thick basslines and solid guitar work that pays tribute to everything stoner and psychedelic rock. There is indeed a lot of trip hazard to be found here. As pure and raw as it gets, Trip Hazard deserves the unfiltered attention of every stoner-psych lover out there. (Robin Van Oyen)
