During Champion Sound Beat Battle 16 Belgian beatmakers compete against each other by sampling/remixing a batch of tracks. The participants will play the results battle style in a knock-out tournament. The beats are evaluated round per round by a professional judging panel.

After a first selection round earlier this month there’s still one spot left, so grab this final opportunity to become one of the 16 participants of the Champion Sound Beat Battle.

How to participate?

• Susobrino made an exclusive sample pack with his own recordings/samples. Download the sample pack and make a beat based on these samples.
• Upload the beat to your vi.be profile and submit your beat here.
• Deadline: Sunday Februari 2nd

After collecting all the tracks, a judging panel will carefully listen to your beat and evaluate it.

Sampling Rules You’re free to use the samples however you want, but we should be able to recognize segments from the original samples. The duration of the beat shouldn’t be over 2 minutes. Listening to the same loop without any variation becomes rather boring. Interpolation (re-playing the melody instead of sampling it) is also allowed. You’re allowed to add/use other drum kits, plugins and synthesizers.

Overall energy Please keep in mind that your preselection beat should be an energetic BATTLE type of beat! As much as we love mellow boom bap beats, they're not really suited for a battle. Your preselection beat needs to convince us and should be able to let us determine whether you’re up for an actual beat battle. The judge members (and the crowd) at our event love rawness and energy.

Champion Sound Beat Battle Once you’ve been selected, you’ll receive 5 sample tracks for the actual beat battle, which basically means: 1 track per round and 2 if you make it to the final round. You’ll have to use these beats during our battle event on the 4th of April at Ancienne Belgique, Brussels. A professional judge panel (to be announced) will evaluate your beats. The winner of the Champion Sound Beat Battle will go home with various software and hardware tools, studio time, a mastering session and much more.
