The role of the opening DJ is often an underrated and misunderstood one. It's a lost art in an age of instant gratification. Yet, at TRAUM, we believe in celebrating this vital foundation, recognizing that the journey into the night is just as crucial as its peak. That's why we are looking for nine DJs to fill our opening slots during our summer program.

Your role as an opening DJ isn't merely a placeholder until the headliner arrives. As architects of atmosphere, your mission requires patience, control, and profound intention. As the first arrivals trickle onto the dancefloor – settling into the space and recalibrating their senses – the music needs to support that process. It's the opening DJ's job to read the room and create an environment where the energy can organically unfold and build naturally.

It's about intuition over ego – a slow-burning story over a hasty climax. We're not looking for big drops, but someone with feeling and finesse. We want you to listen to the needs of the room and breathe life into it, laying the groundwork for the very first steps into the night. This proves that the most impactful moments often begin with a whisper, not a shout. This is your chance to show us the true art of the opening set.

HOW TO ENTER:

Send us a newly created mix (ca. 90 minutes) that accurately reflects how you would open a night at the club, a (very) short motivation, your biography, press kit (or an HD picture), social media tags and your contact details. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 27th at 11:59 PM CEST.

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

We will contact all winners by Monday, June 30th, at the latest, and will announce everyone shortly thereafter on our channels.

WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE

If you are one of the contest winners, we will schedule you as the opening DJ for one of our summer nights. You can find the full program here. Every winner will receive: Compensation for your set. Professional hosting and feedback from industry professionals. Promotion through TRAUM's social media channels.
