??Biography?? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Xhaler, better known as Koen Timmers. A belgian Drum 'n Bass DJ from Hasselt. Founder of BassTrooperZ (BE) & member of Storm Rydaz (UK/BE). Also designer, event organiser / promoter, ... Growing up, music was already a big part of his life. Constantly listening to it, didn't matter what genre. Meanwhile reading/singing/(sometimes screaming :p) along with print-out lyrics. This got him talking/singing/reading/writing English before he was thought at school. Already he noticed to prefer genres with more power, speed & aggression in them. Bands like Limp Bizkit, Linking Park, ... also Metal (Heavy-, Black-(melodic), Trash-, ...) or even hip-hop, rap with deep lyrics that blow your mind. Giving you that "I'm indestructible" gangsta feeling :) (perfect example, short & powerfull... quoting MC Mistakay (S.Y. Alliance): "Feel me, Hear me, Don't come near me... Cause bruv I don't want your love, I see the fake clearly" BAM!) His music career (age: 13-14) started with the purchase of his first guitar (Ibanez/electric). He got the hang of it pretty quick, independently learning everything from guitar tabs, library books & Videos on the internet. During this period he also started breakdancing lessons. Did this for 2 ,5 years. About a year after he got his guitar, it was time to learn drums as well, so he got himself a drumset (Sonor). Started taking music classes (note reading/music theory/drum lessons/...). In the meanwhile he was already playing gigs with a (punk)rock band. Which he started with 2 friends. 1 drummer, 1 leadguitarist and him, being the singer and (rhythm) guitarist for the first couple of months. Later they found a bassist and an amazing singer who took over the vocals. Which made it possible for him to fully focus his energy on the performance, the crowd, etc. Together, they did a few Live shows playing both covers and some songs of their own. They had 2 shows with a larger crowd (>500 people): 1 homecoming party for a lot of campvacations organised every year by a healthfund organisation. The 2nd "big" show they did was a double Live performance at school, first group were 3th & 4th graders, second group were 5th & 6th graders. Both groups were a major success! His DJ Career started on his 17th birthday, when his girl managed to get all of his closest friends to put money together for a mixer. Not knowing anything about DJ'ing he hooked up 2 old turntables which someone told him that he could have for free. Bought 3 decent EP's ( He noticed that if he'd put 2 vinyls from the same EP he didn't need to pitch it. Instead just get the beats right and start playing with those faders & buttons. After a week with 2 turntables without pitch & a crystal needle (=no scratching!) he immediately bought him 2 brandnew turntables (Synq Xtrm-1's). After a few months of practice he got the opportunity to join his biggest favorite, the Storm Rydaz (UK/BE) crew. On the 16th december 2010 (age:18) he got his first Club experience, closing off the Storm Rydaz edition "Selecta 2". This got him even more motivated to keep pushing his boundaries, raise the bar, redefine his music and perfecting his sound. He has been performing on a monthly basis ever since. Getting to know new people every single day (DJ's, fans/supporters, designers, promoters, event organisers, record labels, ...) and loving it all the way! Around the time he joined Storm Rydaz, Koen and a good friend became resident DJ's for a club in Houthalen. Playing every friday & saturday night (mostly House/Electro). Using the cd's from his friend who was the actual House/Electro DJ. Still having good memories from some of those nights but after 4-5 months they closed it cause there were to many fights. What a shame! On the 6th may 2012, together with Enrolado & Jeax, he launched a new crew called BassTrooperZ. The announcements happened a few weeks earlier cause patience was running low. They started doing a few livestreams on the internet with invited guestdj's to pass the time. And then finally, since september 2012, BassTrooperZ has their monthly edition @ The Zoo (Hasselt). Now, with their fanbase growing every single day, these guys are ready to blow you away! So... for all of you who didn't know yet, go check them out when you get the chance...
