Walkman Zero is all about blending woozy rock and indie electronica. The music is rooted in the tradition of The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys and The Raconteurs and injected with a shot of LCD Soundsystem and Giorgio Moroder. But Walkman Zero manages to distil their own sound out of these rich influences. The band was founded in 2018 by three Antwerp-based friends: Bart Rypens (lead vocals, guitar), Joris Walraet (guitar) and Aster Van de Vijver (bass) and was later joined by Bert De Pauw (drums) and Mathias Onzia (guitar, keyboards). The main goal is to bring people together in the same place with music for the heart and the gut. Walkman Zero played local venues, the ‘Maanrock’ festival in Mechelen and was selected for the ‘Local heroes’-festival in Rumst.
