Nieuwe vi.bes in onze 22tracks
Voor de laatste 22tracks van 2015 selecteerden we weer drie toppertjes:
Le Manou
Le Manou is the alter ego of singer Manou Maerten, a 20-year-old singer and music production student from West Flanders, who resides in the French-speaking, Ardennes city of Durbuy. She describes the project as a “dreamy quest to combine lyrical classical music and electronic vibes”. Her atmospheric first track ‘Elle’ proves that she’s capable of doing just that. And if you know that Maerten also collaborates with acts like AKS and Crossbeat, it’s clear that this is an artist to look out for in the future!
Whispering Sons
Whispering Sons brings genres you don’t hear that often amongst young Belgian bands, namely new wave, shoegaze and postpunk. The music this five-piece from the Limburg region produces, sounds ice cold and minimalistic, and the dark, deep and almost male-like voice of singer Fenne Kippers provides a unique finishing touch. Reminding both of acts like New Order or The Jesus And Mary Chain, and Iceage or Rape Blossoms, Whispering Sons manages to bridge the gap between past and the present.
Poolside Echo
Poolside Echo is the new brainchild of Xavier De Clercq, who’s singer in the also brilliant Bear Run. This project however, strikes a new path, in search of “dark yet exotic adventures”. It’s beautifully layered synth pop with strong vocals on top, that reminded us of The Juan MacLean, Holy Ghost and Miami Horror. In January 2016 Poolside Echo will be releasing its debut single ‘We Will Grow’, but this demo already got us really excited. His timing might be a bit off though, ’cause this clearly is music perfectly suited for summer, not winter …
Le Manou
Een dromerige zoektocht om lyrische klassieke muziek en electronisches vibes te combineren.
Whispering Sons
'The name taken from an obscure song by Moral; Whispering Sons tries to bring back ethereal waves and shoegazing guitars from darker times'
