Thomas Frank Hopper’s music is a journey through time, space and somewhat through subconsciousness. Indeed, the pieces of this first opus appear like the gait of a grass hopper, this intriguing little insect that bounces from a lawn to the next one, in jumps so big they appear without relation with the size of its body. Thomas’ trip started somewhere in Africa, where the singer-composer spent his childhood, moving from a town to another, changing countries to follow his family. It is probably along that hopping trail that he caught simultaneously a taste for African beats and for Anglo-Saxon melodies. Our cicada later created songs full of surprises, with a subtle mix of musical genres, with tunes seemingly familiar, yet sounding like nothing else.
