The Jazzaicans quintet was created by guitar player Alexis Nootens whose passion for the Jamaican jazz scene and musical culture triggered his research. After studying and transcribing many different musicians and artists he gathered his quintet to highlight and perform this brilliant and rich music. Through the compositions of saxophonists Joe Harriott and Wilton Gaynair, trumpet players such as Dizzy Reece and Shake Keane or guitar player Ernest Ranglin, the quintet will make you discover the Jamaican jazz scene from the 1950-60's: an authentic jazz which blends with some Caribbean influences such as mento or calypso.
