Bio
Sym Jym is a young composer and piano player from Brussels, Belgium.
Music has always been his passion starting at the age of 5 with violin, and later on with drums and piano. Overtime, he discovered that piano was the right instrument for him. Its flexibility, completeness and its numerous inspirational sources fulfilled his musical exploration journey.
Sym Jym attended piano and music theory courses in several music academies in Brussels. For many years, he followed piano lessons (classic, jazz and modern) with professional piano players including Olivier Collette.
His major influences are Frédéric Chopin, Ryuichi Sakamoto, João Gilberto and Radiohead.
While being involved in musical projects as keyboards/piano player or arranger for some time, Sym Jym gradually progressed in his solo composition journey, accumulating ideas, loops, melodies and endless inspirations.
Some of those ideas became tracks, some others were lost in his mind, drafted somewhere on a piece of paper or badly recorded on his mobile phone.
In 2018, he decided to release his first piano solo EP – Waves – the result of 2 years of hard labour. All tracks were composed, played and recorded by himself in his home studio. The musical atmosphere of this project is characterized by a perfect dose of harmony, sensibility, and melancholy. This captivating style close to minimalism and modern classical music brings you to a world full of imagery.
