By Emeric, guitar player of the band) We started out in november 2014, after I put an add on the internet looking for a rythm section to start an alternative rock n roll band with an 80s flavour of postpunk and indierock. Some bandnames were dropped like the Wipers, Hüsker Dü, Joy Division, Early the Cure, Television, The Buzzcocks, Chameleons, Dinosaur Jr, Old Nirvana…Maarten, who’s still the drummer and number one nirvana fan responded. Round the same time I bumped into Simon and asked if he liked to sing in a band, since we are both Joy Division fanatics we also clicked musicwise. Simon happened to have played bass for a while in past projects so that made us a trio. We then on worked out some riffs and ideas. The first few songs we made went pretty fast because we gelled very quickly in dynamics. We went in different directions to see what style suited us best. Some songs went in a more shoegaze/pop direction but were dropped because of lack of drive. Midtempo postpunk/posthardcore and 80s indie/”grunge”guitarrockstuff, both American and British influenced, became mostly our thing, influences were clear in the beginning but we developped our own dynamic and style along the way. Our first shows were with a short set, 4th show with a full set. We played at the legendary Pit’s in Kortrijk twice and some other locals bars in that area and in Ghent too, at Kinky Star. Even though gigs have not been up for grabs through the years, we’ve been going on and focusing on the music we want to play and improving our sound and musical writing skills.
