Bio
Solstice is a more than worthy new addition to the alternative rock scene. Five young men bundle the experience they built up in previous bands to create a powerful blend of tight, epic rock music with melodies that tend to get stuck in your head, even long after the songs have ended. The band feels influenced by artists such as Anberlin, Saosin and Thrice, but their music should also feel familiar to fans of Conditions, Circa Survive and others. At the end of October 2012, Solstice recorded their self titled debut at The Penthouse Studio with Filip De Bot. The EP was released on December 21st 2012 through Thanks But No Thanks Records. Since then they’ve played all over Belgium and beyond, with as highlights a slot at Putrock and support shows for acts such as Funeral For A Friend (UK) and Our Last Night (USA). With a new single and video out, these guys are on the rise, mind our words.
“Their self-titled EP is a very nice example of how punk can be easy listening yet intelligent and it’s a strong example of what else we may find in the Belgian underground scene.” - Kwadratuur.be “Fundamentally on the EP is the energetic interplay between the five members. This band doesn’t make us long for yesteryear, but for times to come. New times which Solstice will bring us.” - ErrorError Ezine
“Solstice illustrates a mix of Transit , A Day To Remember and This Providence. Maarten’s voice proves to be intriguing as it pulls the listener to keep listening to the EP. Ranging from Punk Rock to Screamo, with the addition of slower tracks; the passion is evident.” - UMusicians
