Bio
Seppe Gebruers (°9/05/1990) is a Belgian pianist, improviser and composer.
The improv music scene is already acquainted with his name, due to his delivered work in several adventurous projects like the large ensemble 'Ifa y xango', the piano duo with Erik Vermeulen, named 'Antiduo, Bambi Pang Pang featuring the legendary Andrew Cyrille, his Solo and the trio with the pioneer Paul Lovens and Hugo Antunes (Seppe, Hugo and Paul).
His approach is far from traditional. Last years he decided to play two pianos tuned in quarter-tones.
In this way he can explore microtonal music and confront the tuning in western world music orthodoxy.
It will be first heard on a recording to be released (2018) with the trio Seppe, Hugo and Paul.
Nils Vermeulen (°22/06/1989) is a double and electric bass player based in Ghent (Belgium).
The variety of projects in which he plays, indicates his wide range of interest in music. The one thing that connects them all is sound. Nils has taken a profound interest in vibrations, production of sound and the esthetics that comes with it.
Experimenting with his own solo etudes for double bass, working together with renowned bassplayers as Peter Jacquemyn, Wilbert de Joode, Brice Soniano and William Parker, gives him the experience he needs to enter the tone world in search for new discoveries.
Currently he's doing research on extended techniques in relation with Ptolemy tuning on the double bass.
