Bio

Born in the west coast of Africa, Ghana. Lokko Carl Christian aka Darapson was born into a Christian home on the 25th of April 1983.

He grew up together with his two brothers in a well known city called Tema. In this musically influenced city, it did not take long for him to discover his passion for music. Subconsciously, his love and understanding of music was gradually developing, since his older brother Jesse aka Weber constantly played HipHop and Reggae music ranging from Nas, Dax Efx, Wu Tang Klan, Bob Marley, Reggie Rockstone to mention a few. Imitating their rhyme style, he started performing their songs at shows and in school since that was a hype. Darapson was then known as Treach. A name he was given, due to his resemblance to the well know HipHop artist of the group Naught By Nature. He was very much influenced by Nas, Mobb Deep and Reggie and he knew most of their songs off head. He started free-styling and writing his own rhymes, line by line like an architect on his drawing board. Together with his five childhood friends (Skilla, Jah Dre, Tee Money, Abujay and Nasty) they formed a group called Da Lyric Klan. The group quickly made name in C4 (community 4) and beyond which caused more HipHop and HipLife groups to be formed in their community. Practicing and mastering his art, he free-styled from the streets to the classroom without or with beats that came from the teachers table when his friends were drumming. Wanting to test himself, he participated in a Radio Universe competition, where emcees call in and rap. At the end of the show, the winner gets to perform live from the studios of the radio station during the next show. Out of 15 emcees, he was crowned king and he had his whole neighbourhood both young and old tuned in and listening to his live radio session. One of his best memories. He was then chosen by Qua Mina Lesh Uno aka Adrenaline, to be part of an elite group of emcees to make a collaborated song named ‘Angel Town’. This became the first Tema anthem.

A few years after that, he and his family left Ghana to Belgium. Soon he discovered that Belgium was not a HipHop enthusiastic country and there was no scene for it. But that did not discourage him or weakened his God given talent. He also encountered problems finding studios to record in, and when he did find one, the rates were way beyond what he could afford. That motivated him to read and understand the art of beat making and vocal recording. With time he had his own small home studio, consisting of a laptop, fruity loops software for beat production and a mic. He founded a group called B&T with his new found buddy Bracker. The group expanded from 2 to 3 members, which brought about the change of name. From B&T to B Block (Best Block) with a new vocal female artist Breana. The group was dismantled after Breana went back to Africa. But the friendship stayed intact no matter what.

He then worked on his own as a solo artist, rhyming and producing beats day in and day out. His name Darapson actually came up during a conversation with his friend Bracker. He thought that was the best name that describes what Treach aka Darapson does. That is, sticking to the basics and putting words together in his own creative way and so naturally that u may think rap gave birth to him.

Doing shows at festivals and in night clubs came as time went on. He came out with his debut mixtape called ‘The Outcome’ in 2010 which he specifically made only 200 copies. With only 200 copies made and sold out, his mixtape ‘The Outcome’ earned him a lot of respect, fans, stage performances, appearances in the media, both radio (107.8 Radio Stad) and tabloid (De Nieuwe Antwerpenaar). Being on the same stages and doing openers for artists such as The Game, Eve, Loyd and others, was like a dream come true.

Now In collaboration with the Gold Coast Inc, a group of talented people, he is making his dreams come true and perfecting his God given talent.
