Polarts is the artist name of the independent Belgian musician and multi-instrumentalist Christophe Paul Marie Aerts.

Born December 4th 1977, Christophe Paul Marie Aerts grew up near the city of Antwerp in Belgium. In his young teens, he started playing the piano. Yet soon followed the guitar, drums and bass guitar.

From the age of 17, Christophe played in several (progressive) rock bands. Sometimes taking up duties as the guitarist/singer, sometimes as the drummer and even as the bass player. Whilst writing material for the bands he played in, he also started recording songs at home that didn’t fit the bands he was playing in. These songs were mainly inspired by acts such as John Mayer, David Gray, Leonard Cohen, Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and Melissa Horn.

In 2012, after more than 20 years of making music, he released a first EP called “Messages from the heart” under the artist name “Polarts” on which he played and sung everything himself.

Early 2020, Polarts released a first full album called “The rhythm of thoughts”. (Available on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, Deezer, etc.) From early on in the writing process, the decision was made to try and create a more organic sounding record and making more songs from a guitar based approach. Although most of the instruments and vocals were performed by himself, this album also features some guest musicians such as Cristina Constantinescu (Violin), Philippe Allard (Viola) and Jean-François Assy (Cello). The album was entirely recorded and mixed at Cavern Studios by Steven Jacobs & Christophe himself. The mastering was done by none other than Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios in London.
