PipaRimba Duo is waar een toonbeeld van zijn unieke internationaal gelauwerde speciale soundproductie met een combinatie van creatieve kracht en sensitieve virtuositeit. Zij hebben erg veel optredens gedaan in verschillende continenten, onder meer in Oostenrijk, België, China, de Tsjechische Republiek, Frankrijk, Duitsland, Griekenland, Hong Kong, Hongarije, Ierland, Italië, Korea, Luxemburg, Polen, Portugal, Roemenië, Rusland, Slovenië, Spanje, Zwitserland, Nederland, Turkije, de Verenigd Koninkrijk en de Verenigde Staten.

Zij spelen een selectie uit klassieke meesterwerken geregeld voor pipa en marimba dat het instrument toont in al haar facetten met een uitzonderlijke fusie van wereldklasse en verschillende muzikale stijlen. Het programma met werken van o.a. Piazzolla, Bach, Chopin, Morricone, Monti, Debussy enz. neem het publiek mee op wereldreis en is een indringende ervaring waar "East en West" in perfecte harmonie samensmelten. Een podium bezet met "pluck en strike", onvergetelijke melodieën, golven van prachtige klanken kortom "pluck:y strike:r"

En in hun eigen arrangementen ontmoeten, doorkruisen en bestuiven klassiek en folk, hedendaags en jazz, Westerse en Oosterse klanken en ritmes elkaar tot een unieke belevenis waarbij het publiek zich geen seconde verveelt.

Members from the innovative PipaRimba Duo are both prolific musicians and have won various music awards in e.g. Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Hong Kong etc. Their unique and splendid style of playing are characterised by a wide range of genres, with a creative vision of combining theatrical elements, dance, improvisation and their own arrangements; from classical to folkloric, from jazz to contemporary, western to asian music.

They were invited to perform in various international art/ music festivals such as Aberdeen International Youth Festival (Scotland, UK), Universal Marimba Festival (Belgium), Filadelfia Festival (Italy), Zeltsman Marimba Festival (USA), Kagoshima Asian Youth Arts Festival (Japan), Festival Chapel for Europe (Belgium), Festival Les “Nuits” (France), Festival Catharina (Belgium), International Katarzyna Mycka Marimba Festival (Poland), Global Music Festival (Greece), Festival Elzenveldkapel (Belgium), Taoyuan Traditional Music Festival (Taiwan), International Hong Kong Percussion Festival (Hong Kong).

They performed extensively across the continents including Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Macao, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the Philippines, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States.

Apportant un souffle de fraîcheur et innovant, le Duo PipaRimba se compose deux artistes résidants en Belgique: Charmaine Wong et la marimbiste Fiona Foo.

Ces deux musiciennes sont actives tant dans des projets éducatifs, séminaires, ateliers que sur scène bien sûr. Leur style particulier et personnel se manifeste , de manière créative dans le choix de style musicaux différents et en y mêlant des éléments théâtraux, de danse, d’improvisation. Leurs propres arrangements font se rencontrer musique classique et folk, contemporaine et jazz. Les sons et les rythmes occidentaux et orientaux s’entremêlent et se fécondent en une expérience unique où le public ne s’ennuie pas une seconde.
