LONG STORY SHORT Opiate is a new electronic project from Guillaume Van Rijckeghem, focusing mainly on melodic techno. EP coming soon. SHORT STORY LONG Until I was 16 years old, I could only appreciate guitar related music. It was when I discovered artists such as Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Autechre that I realized that there was much more behind electronic music than a guy standing behind the decks. I discovered that creating electronic music is a true craft, such as composing a classical piece, or writing a pop hit. As a producer I am always in quest for new sounds and new opportunities, and I felt the urge to do something different than the rock and metal songs I had been writing for so long. Meanwhile I was getting more into techno and trance. Artists like Stephan Bodzin, Paul Kalkbrenner, Linear Straight and many others are very inspirational to me. At this moment the goal is to create more tracks of my own and start doing DJ sets with those, combined with a variety of techno and house. EP coming soon.
