Maddox
Hi, I'm Maddox and I love the combination of raw electronic synthesizers en classic acoustic instruments.
Bio
Hi, I’m Maddox. I grew up in Brussels (currently living in Ghent) and I have been working on electronic music for the past 7 years now. Half of those 7 years as a former DJ/Producing duo. I've had my fair share of Electro/Fidget House in the early days. As a dj duo, we released 2 EP’s, received international support and did several remixes for other artists, but I just didn’t like where the genre was going.
So, I took a step back. During this time, I got to experiment with a couple of synths and hardware I bought back in the days, but never really used. I found myself feeling much more excited really playing and recording the lines live rather than just randomly draw them until it sounded like a huge build with a heavy drop.
With my new music I want to convey this emotion that you are in a movie riding a train that suddenly derails and throws you into this fantasy world of well orchestrated madness. Six Impossible Things is the first track I approached this way. I took six elements I really like and tried to tie them together.
I love to start every song with a simple catchy base constantly adding more sounds, soul and melody so it becomes this endless rollercoaster ride of synthesizers.
Someone in the music industry once told me that when doing a mix or song, you should have drops and rise and bridge and bla bla, well I think it should be all rise.
I’ve been working on Maddox on and off for quite a while now and I in secrecy of everyone around me, because I didn’t want anyone to have expectations.
When making music over the last year I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but when I heard Studio Brussels was looking for new artists in their competition De Nieuwe Lichting I wanted to compete and take my chance, because sometimes I believe as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
