Bio
It started back in 1982 when local kids from the city of Genk (Belgium)came together to form the band Lions Pride. Inspired by their great idols like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ronny James Dio and many more... they began to wright own songs. Barely six months later and a handful of song they get the opportunity to open the Shockwave Festival (Genk Belgium) that was sponsored by Mausoleum Records to promote their signed bands like Wildfire and Raven. The record company was very impressed by the performance of Lions Pride and took the band under his wings. Shortly after that they had the honor to record their debut album in the well-known ICP Studios in Brussels, where bands such as U2 and Simple Minds recorded their albums. Lions Pride released their debut album “BREAKING OUT” in 1984. The album was worldwide released, it even sold in Japan! The opening track "Nighthunter" climbed in the British music magazine Melody Maker to the 4th place in 1984! Songs were composed for a second album but after the bankruptcy of the record company the band split. It remained silent for decades. Only until 2012 Lions Pride came back together with the original line-up to headline the Belgian Metal Legacy festival. In 2015 the band reunited again for several shows and decided to record and film “The Return Of The Pride” show in March 2016. It was released on CD and DVD in October 2018. The live CD/DVD includes six songs of the “Breaking Out” album with two new songs “4W” and “One Of The Pride”. The songs “Free Rider” and “Lions Pride” were supposed to be on the second studio album but found a second live on YouTube, filmed at the Shockwave Festival back in 1985. Due to the pandemic of 2020, the canceled shows gave the band space to wright new songs and a single release on the 4th of june 2021 called “Devil’s Eyes”. A second single will be released in August 2021 and a full studio album in the fall of 2021. Lions Pride will be playing again with a new line-up starting with a try-out show on the 4th of September 2021. Shows wil be announced on https://lionspride.bandcamp.com https://www.facebook.com/lionspridebelgium/
