If Anything Happens to the Cat is a five-piece indie orchestra from Ghent, Belgium. Their music is an unpredictable mix between post-rock, shoegaze and indie rock. Every song is a journey: through intertwining layers of guitars and synths, past flashes of vocals and guest instruments, often culminating into crushingly emotional climaxes.

The band started when Filipe, Pieter and Wouter met up in a small room in a student dorm in Ghent, Belgium to write some songs back in 2010. In 2012 they recorded a first demo-EP in the attic of Filipe’s parents, resulting in live shows all over Belgium and the Netherlands. The band’s first studio album Sun Drunk Moon was released in October 2014 at a sold-out release show in Charlatan, one of the most famous clubs in their hometown Ghent. The album has been described by critics as a unique, adventurous and refreshing take on the post-rock genre. They recorded the follow-up to this album in the summer of 2016. The album Mångata was presented to the public during a tour in China in October 2016, before being officially released in September 2017 with a releaseshow in NEST in Ghent and a EU-tour covering five countries in 2018. Stylistically, the band took a different approach on this album, focusing on beefing up their sound, producing a more technical yet melodically layered album. Their third album Kingdom of Roots was released on March 20th 2020, one week into Covid-lockdown. The band once again shed its skin with a highly experimental record featuring a more visceral sound, while still retaining their post-rock antics.

After a five year hiatus, the band is now ready for a new era with a new line-up, consisting of following members (LTR):
