Habibeats & Hummus is a hip hop/trip hop album produced by Beats & Breakfast,

inspired by authentic middle eastern sounds. Beats & Breakfast has been deeply spading in Arabic music to sample and collect these sounds that were transformed into 12 tracks: Habibeat & Hummus.

The idea of making an album with middle eastern samples emerged after Beat & Breakfast volunteeredwith 7Hills for a month in Amman, Jordan. 7Hills is a social skateboarding project that is uniting local and refugee youth through skateboarding philosophy. Through the joyous outlet of skateboarding, 7Hills bridges the gap between different cultures, social and racial backgrounds, religions, gender and age. What they basically do is, offering free of charge skate classes, loaner skateboards/safety equipment and transportation services from refugee camps and underserved areas to the skatepark for boys and girls from lower socioeconomic classes.

Habibi is a very common Arabic word that means literally ‘darling’, translated as homie/brother/my man/etc.And in Amman you can find the best hummus in the world!

The initial plan was to put the album only on online streaming services and to donate all the profit to 7Hills. This means that part of the profit will stick in the hands of multinationals as Spotify, Youtube, Itunes, Googleplay, etc. And if you look to the profit margin of online streaming services, you realize the profit will be pretty shit.So, that’s why we had the idea to release this album on CD, to make more profit, to donate more to 7Hills.

To realize this plan, we are looking for sponsors to cover the costs of releasing this CD. The costs are pretty lowand we would put the logo of the sponsor(s) on the back of the CD cover.
