FOKꓘOP. UNPLUGGD is the alter (acoustic) ego of Brussels based schizophrenic alt. rap live band FOKꓘOP.EЯA.
Bio
After releasing an EP (and recording an album) with electronic punk-rap project FOꓘKOP.EЯA (Finalist Circuit 2023), rapper/vocalist Herb Cells and pianist Martin Daniel present the acoustic version, somewhere between jazz and baroque lyricism, alongside the excellent Manolo Cabras on double bass and Ben Tequi on drums. They call it 'FOKꓘOP. UNPLUGGD’.
A Brussels’ contribution to the jazzrap & spoken word legacy and homage to its pioneers such as : The Last Poets, Gil Scott-Heron, Daddy-O, Stetsasonic, Steve Coleman & Five Elements, B. Marsalis & Buckshot Lefonque, GURU’s Jazzmatazz, US3, Dream Warriors, G-Clef & Ghetto Philharmonic, Greg Osby’s 3-D Lifestyles, Digable Planets, The Roots, Steve Lehman, Truffaz & Nya ... and many more.
FOKꓘOP. UNPLUGGD just recorded a very first album with Nic Thys on upright bass. Stay tuned for its release.
