Costanza is the alter ego of Jeroen Bergen from Aarschot, Belgium. At the end of 2019 he started performing his “quite danceable post-punk” on his own, with an electric guitar and a self-produced backing track on his iPhone. After a couple of gigs the pandemic hit, a time he used to finetune his sound and also to record, mix and release his first single in May of 2021: 'To dance again, with you', which got played on Belgian alternative radio station Willy.

Musically he took inspiration from his earlier life in punk bands and his vinyl DJ sets of eclectic pop music, going from post-punk to ABBA, from synth-pop to Pavement, from Motown to LCD Soundsystem, from Italo-disco to Jawbreaker, from yéyé to My Bloody Valentine and from 90’s emo to Pulp. The main goal was always making songs so danceable that he could play them in his own DJ sets.

At the end of the pandemic Jeroen decided to form a band and in December 2023 he returned to the stage for the first time with a full live band. In 2024 Costanza will release some new singles, as well as a first EP. To be continued!
