Bergaf: Three people, one vague idea, endless poor decisions.

Sinds hun ontstaan rond drummer Astrid Van Ingelgom – die volgens de overlevering pas begon te drummen na een half-grappige opmerking op een verjaardagsfeest – is Bergaf een band die vooral leeft op goesting en volume. Met bassist Gert Decraene en gitarist/zanger Vince Delhaye bouwen ze aan een geluid dat redelijk schaamteloos leent bij wat alt rock – wise vooral in de nineties te horen viel: hoekig-gruizige gitaren, dito baslijnen en onorthodox opgebouwde songs die liever kop-vooruit stormen dan netjes eindigen. Bergaf durft al eens te klinken à la Pixies & Sonic Youth with a dash of wave.

De EP 'Bergaf' werd opgenomen met Stefan Bracke in de Audiotheque studio in Gent en is te beluisteren op de gebruikelijke streamingsdiensten. Een eerste 'full album' komt er later aan.

Astrid is ook actief bij postpunk band FRAGMENT, Vince is bassist bij de'Kraut Noir'-band MOONFOLKS.

Bergaf: Three people, one vague idea, endless poor decisions.

Ever since their formation around drummer Astrid Van Ingelgom – who, according to the story, only started drumming after a lame joke at a birthday party – Bergaf has been a band that thrives on enthusiasm and volume. With bassist Gert Decraene and guitarist/singer Vince Delhaye, they’re building a sound that borrows quite shamelessly from what could be heard in the alt-rock scene – particularly in the nineties: angular, gritty guitars, ditto bass lines and unorthodox song structures that prefer to charge headlong rather than end neatly. Bergaf occasionally dares to sound like the Pixies & Sonic Youth with a dash of new wave.

The EP ‘Bergaf’ was recorded at the Audiotheque studio by Stefan Bracke in Ghent and is available on the usual streaming services. A first full-length album will be released later on.

Astrid is also a band member of post punk band FRAGMENT, Vince is bassist for 'Kraut Noir'-band MOONFOLKS.
