ASSIA
You'll notice their love for the 80's but unlike most new coming bands that decide to bring back the 80's, Assia does not do the copy-paste trick.
Bio
Assia is a Rock Band, kick started by the Eurasian siblings, Asmara and Tiana.
They both have spent most of their childhood in Indonesia and know a thing or two about the difficulties of living with two different cultures.
But they also found the benefits of it and it's easy to be heard in the music they make.
They only know how to make music that might make some of us a little confused but curious enough to find out what their ingredients are in making such mixed unique sounds of Indorock and 80's Hardrock.
It's like taking your kitchen blender and mix a bowl of foreign chili peppers together with a nice and healthy piece of Belgian chocolate.
They sound sweet and melodic but before you know you crave for water to cool the spice down.
Assia is definitely the first bandsince a lifetime ago to deliver a unique but sometimes familiar sound.
You'll notice their love for the 80's but unlike most new coming bands that decide to bring back the 80's, Assia does not do the copy-paste trick.
Assia has something of their own to show the world.
They pay no attention to rules and the do's and don'ts in themusic business.
They leave record labels hungry for the 'familiar' as they do not know what to label Assia.
Is it rock, Is it metal, Is it pop, Is it Asian, Is it Western, what should we call it?
Asmara and Tiana both answer the same "It's rock n roll man, we do not care"
"Assia needs to be experienced live! -by P. de Boeck"
Back in the early days of Assia in 2010, I saw them live for the very first time and have followed them ever since.
I rarely miss a show because I see so much potential in these young musicians.
I bought their demo some-when after the third live show I attended but was shocked to hear the difference between Assia live and Assia on a (home made) demo.
On their demo they sound soft and shy. Nothing at all like I've experienced on any of their live shows.
I told Assia that they should race their asses to the recording studio but told me that they simply can not afford it.
But it is on top of their to do list. I wish them success and would like to see them live on a bigger stage because they deserve it!
My advice though to any of you who haven't seen them live yet and were turned off by the way they were sounding on their demo, GO SEE THEM LIVE!

"Assia on June 4th 2011 -by Robert Goyvaerts"
SUPER! I have just witnessed an act of Assia, Asmara and Tiana's band. Rock & Metal right out of the 80ties.
Fantastic songs, catchy melodies, great twin guitars, and a real asset, a keyboard player.
This group has so much potential that they urgently need to flirt some serious gigs to catch the hearts and attention of a much broader audience.
And not to forget, ............... What a front woman!!!!!!! One that has everything, the looks, the voice, the attitude and what is missing in many others, she is so sympathetic!

"Assia @ Wizzfest 2012 -by Christopher Majewicz"
The band have the flare of the 80s mixed in with pop sensibilities with a strong hard rock edge.
Bands like Doro and Girlschool spring to mind with plenty of 12 bar blues progressions.
If this band appeared sharing a 7? with Motorhead, played main support to Motley Crue or even appearing in Wayne's World you wouldn't bat an eyelid. (...)
Heavy rock followed by ballads keeps it mixed up and stops the tedium that can occur when a band seem to stick to one sound, one tempo and one beat for a whole set.
This band so far prompt the biggest reaction from the audience as well as having the best interaction with them and its hard not to enjoy this sort of music whether you'd normally listen to it or not.
They keep the pace up through out the set and go out with a bang getting Wizz to join them on stage for their final song "Children of Rock n' Roll".
Bringing him onto the stage adds a new dynamic and it is also the perfect anthem to finish the set with."
