Anton Lambert started playing music at the age of six. He began by playing the cello, mainly focusing on classical music. Later he moved on to the double bass, which led him to jazz and improvised music. He graduated from the Bachelor in Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in 2020. Currently he is doing his masters in double bass with Nathan Wouters. During his studies, he had courses in (live) electronic music composition and audio-visual programming with Jorrit Tamminga, Andrew Claes and Umut Eldem; focusing on algorithmic composition and live electronics through programming in Pure Data and MaxMSP. During his two-month residency in Central-Java (Indonesia) in 2019 he took lessons with Agus Prast Cah Ireng and Gondrong Gunarto to learn the basics of the Javanese gamelan tradition. He had an introduction to the music, the notation and the different instruments of the orchestra and took lessons to learn to play the rebab, a Javanese fiddle. Besides his practice as a double bass player in various jazz and improvised music ensembles such as de zwarte zusters and The One Frame Movement, he collaborates on interdisciplinary projects as an electronic musician and composer; accompanying theatre and dance performances as a live musician or creating sound installations for multi-media artworks. He worked with Kaori Ishigoro (choreorapher/performer) on their project HACH?, an audio-visual dance trip that revolves around the visual and auditory frequencies by which we communicate, in movement and in sound; resulting in an immersive piece and audio-visual installation which was coproduced by Workspacebrussels
