Anthrophagus was founded in November 2007. By Glenn (Guitars) and Maxime (Drums). After writing a few songs, they liked the way things were going. So they thought about adding some bass. Gregory was invited to a rehearsel, and was able to fill in the bass-parts just nicely. And that is how Anthrophagus was born. After writing and completing a set-list suitable for shows, they figured rhythm guitars were due. This of course for the songs to sound better and more complete. So Wout already liked the music we had, and was most honoured to become a part of the band as a rythm guitarist. On the 7th of February 2009 they recorded their first demo. It is a 3-track demo recorded and mixed by Kenneth Keysers. The Demo is called: Putrefaction Through Retribution. In October 2010 Wim Vandenbranden (who you may remember from Enter The Morgue) joined Anthrophagus as the Lead Singer. In May 2012 Wim quit's the band as vocalist, Glenn takes over the vocal duties .

In 2015 Antoine Sohier joined the band to fill in bass duties, since Gregory left the band earlier that year.

In November 2018 they released their first full album called "Anima In Decay".
