I am a Brussels-based writer, performer, DJ and facilitator, and co-founder of ajeeb studios. Through my interdisciplinary practice, I aim to bring joy, unity and liberation into our communities, using comedy/DJing to change the social and political discourse framed around the representation of Muslim women as our narratives are often surrounded by trauma, I aim to use DJing/character comedy as a counter-narrative.

As a DJ, I play an open format a mix of Desi Club, Arab Club, Amapiano, Jersey Club, Baile Funk and GQOM, bringing together sounds from across the diaspora with contemporary club music. I have opened for Taylah Elaine (Brussels), Nanoos (Manchester) and Anoushka Shankar (Brighton Festival), as well as Arijit Singh (Co-op Live) and Gao The Arsonist (London). I have performed at Parklife Festival, Brighton Festival and Kelburn Festival, as well as AB Club (Breaxx) and Ancienne Belgique as part of the Zinneke Parade. I have also performed across London, Rome, Brussels, Manchester and Glasgow.

My work often sits between music, comedy, theatre and performance. I would love to bring this multidisciplinary approach to the Youth L'AB Takeover, whether through a DJ set or a live performance. My one-woman show, My Mum Told Me Not To Marry An Atheist, combines character comedy and live DJing, following Dadi, a grandmother and world-renowned DJ who has come all the way from Karachi on a mission to cure this plague of anxiety and depression in Belgium through teaching people how to dance, learn to live honestly and gain confidence through DJing, music and movement.

The show has toured across the UK, and I am interested in developing my practice further in Brussels and connecting with the city's music and creative communities. Performing at Youth L'AB Takeover would be an insightful opportunity to share my sound and interdisciplinary practice with a new audience bringing club culture and theatre into your space while celebrating the musical talent emerging from Brussels
