Alyssa (born Alyssa, Johanna, Farah Luypaert on November 30, 1992) is a Belgian singer and songwriter, best known as Alyssa the 10th finalist from IDOOL 2011.

Alyssa is the daughter from a Flemish mother (her role model) and an Indo-Pakistan Congolese father. She developed an early interest in music from listening to her father’s singing and playing the guitar. “Music is my life and the public my partner”, her own words. Her music education started at the age of 5 by learning how to play violin and piano but her dream to become a singer and songwriter never left her mind.

The revelation came when at 14 she was offered one of the main roles in the Musical STARMANIA by Alaeti dance school she attended and still does. There she met Diane Demortier who trained her to sing and invited her to join her group ENAID shortly after. Together, Diane as main singer and Alyssa as her vocals performed in different places of the capital such as : The Witloof Bar, L’Orangerie, Nekkersdal, L’Os à Moelle….

Through all these years , Alyssa kept on writing and composing her own songs, she is a mezzo-soprano singer although she performs mostly in English, French and Dutch songs are also part of her repertoire. One of her compositions became her demo :“He’ll never know” which was recorded and filmed by Vladimir Rojas and can be viewed on ExposureRoom.

By spending her early childhood and most of her free time in between Brussels and America she became that “ Universal Kid” and that is the reason why we can feel how : Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Gloria Estefan, Barbra Streisand, Des’ree, Shirley Bassey, Peggy Lee, … all strong women, became her main influences.

In 2010, she decided to enter the IDOOL 2011 contest where she reached the finals. Sony Music produced a song and a clip from the 10 finalists and “More to Me” turned into gold, followed by a compilation of 10 covers where : Waiting for tonight is Alyssa’s.

If many among us would like to classify her into a music genre they are facing a very difficult task cause Alyssa’s love for music knows no boundaries !!
