Relying heavily on guitar distortion and effects, Alliance of the Billing vigorously explore the boundaries of gritty post-rock, while at the same time expanding their musical palette with intricate keyboard textures and faint drum fills. The five-piece international outfit from Brussels sways back and forth between subdued rage and delicate reveries, allowing the listener to get comfortably lost in a thick haze of multi-layered cinematic soundscapes. A band of few words, Alliance of the Billing’s repertoire consists primarily of instrumental songs. Despite the economical use of vocals, however, the track titles and arrangements leave little to the imagination: with themes echoing inequality and corporate greed, as well as existential despair and redemption, Alliance of the Billing provide a fiery manifesto and a compelling manual for emancipation in times of societal turmoil.
