Sound artist from Brussels. Classical education, musicology studies, late electro influence have led me into unconventional sonic realms.
Bio
Adrian Kurth (b. 1986, Eupen), is an electronic musician, producer and sound designer. Sculpting sound with digital tools, he builds sonic landscapes and high octane tunes, probing boundaries between noise and music, between structure and chaos.
He has recently collaborated with visual artist Fabrice Samyn on Vanity’s Ballroom, an upcoming performance in which a group of dancers recreate a score of Dmitri Shostakovich, using only their breath and sighs as music instruments. Kurth also created and performed A Tale of Lost and Found with dancer Marcia Liu at Leuven’s M Museum (November 2016) and Sint Niklaas’ Stadsschouwburg (January 2017). In this piece, Liu improvises on soundscapes created by Kurth, using synths, an electronic monochord of his own making and field recordings collected in Iran. He also created the soundtrack for a video of Eric Arnal Burtschy’s installation Deep Are the Woods in February 2017.
In the coming months, Adrian Kurth is participating to the “Studies on Vibration” workshop at the School of Machines, Making and Make-Believe in Berlin, and works on a solo performance due for November at the Alter Schlachthof in Eupen.
