A Goat As Our Shepherd –or AGAOS- is the collective brainchild of former The Reckoning members Styg (guitars, song writing), Morbid (drums, also Exoto, ex-Carnation) and Joris (bass, ex-Panchrysia). The primal version of the band was formed in July 2018.

“When we started looking for extra band members, we weren’t very optimistic,” Styg explains. “Not only did we need an additional guitar player, but also a vocalist, knowing that he or she would have a huge impact on the overall sound of the band.” He adds: “it is not easy to find people that are on the same level both personally and creatively. But to our surprise, it took only a few auditions to find them!”

And so, a few months later the band’s line-up was completed by guitarist Ginger (Incult, Antzaat) and the debuting vocalist T'Seyen. “The first rehearsal with the completed band was a blast!” Styg recalls. “Both T’Seyen and Ginger are passionate, creative, and great to work with.”

Soon after, the collective entered the Project Zero recording studio under supervision of sound-wizard Yarne Heylen (Carnation). “We were all really excited and curious how this would turn out,” Styg says. “We were anxious to find out what we would sound like. As soon as I heard the raw mix, I knew we were going to be a force to be reckoned with!”

The final result is A Goat As Our Shepherd's self-titled digital EP, comprised of 3 songs that sound as a hybrid cocktail of bone-crushing death/thrash, modern groove, some classic rock/metal guitar work and a layer of sheer darkness.

About their musical style Styg says: “When writing music, I don’t focus on a particular style. And with the diverse contribution of each band member, our songs always have a twist you don't expect. I’m convinced that we’ve created something unique, something that has its own identity.”
