Zara Davis is a Belgian-based singer-songwriter, currently living in Gent.

She started writing poetry early on in life and released her first poetry collection in 2015. Back then, the themes were very dark and existential. She spent most of her adulthood in London, working in the specialty coffee industry and trying to get a degree in Theoretical Physics. During the pandemic however, life seemed to be falling apart and Zara embarked on a journey to fulfil her childhood dreams and started writing a second volume of poems. But this time, together with the poems, she created musical soundscapes to underline the atmosphere of her poetry.

Bold enough and after the breakup of her relationship, she moved from London to Belgium to start a new life and to finish this project, which finally transformed into a collection of 10 songs and that is how the album No Hot Ashes was born.

Even though Zara is new to the music scene, she is very eager to sing about her passion and soul. As music is, for her, a form of writing a diary of life and the way to deal with one's shadow self. With the help of her producer (Johan Bessemans), the soundscapes were transformed into sultry tunes and erotic sounds, often accompanied by jazz trumpet or saxophone, drifting away on melodies from the '70s and through the Lynchian mask of her alter ego.

In the early months of 2023 Zara already had enough material for the upcoming album Wide Awake and this time she dived in the music even deeper. The first album was an experiment, the second one is unapologetically her. With Wide Awake we dive into the atmosphere of psychedelic 60s, with long guitar solos, catchy organ tunes and out of the world soundscapes, colourising even bolder lyrics. The album flirts with themes of the soul and spiritual awakening while not abandoning the strong sexual themes.
