The new Ola Tunji quartet is moving in the direction where musical interplay becomes a powerful and expressive whole. Its members met and started playing together before summer of 2023 and then united in the passion that each felt towards the spiritual and musical life of John Coltrane and his peers. They started playing more and more together, trying to create new music with Coltrane’s gift to life, his music, and from that base, elevating themselves to compose, to express their own personal form of music. Since September 2023, we've been playing a lot to build up our repertoire. After some successful concerts at Sounds, Music Village, Roskam and Jazz Station, we’ve decided to converge our energy’s towards composition&improvisation which led us to record our first EP the "Untitled EP", released on Bandcamp on September 27th. Last summer, we've been working hard to build up a professional artistic and press kit, simultaneously, we’ve also been sending out a lot of emails in the hope of being booked or highlighted. We've already had some positive feedbacks (radio plays in Canada and California, we've confirmed 12 concerts, an interview, label propositions, press article on “All About Jazz”, review on Bandcamp Daily for "Spiritual Jazz" genre, digital success... etc.).

Now, we do a lot of rehearsals, band reunions... We are also trying to build a band identity on internet (website...) but also in general, with profound interrogations about what is the meaning of what we want to express.
