Loïs Grant (21) is een Belgisch-Schotse singer-songwriter. Met haar soloproject ontwikkelt ze een herkenbare, consistente sound waarin melancholie en nostalgie centraal staan. Haar muziek wordt gedragen door dromerige melodieën en een sterke focus op sfeer en emotionele gelaagdheid.

Of ze nu solo staat of ondersteund wordt door haar liveband, Loïs vertelt haar verhalen met een directe eerlijkheid en een stem die zowel kwetsbaarheid als kracht uitstraalt. In januari 2025 bracht Loïs de EP Collection of Voice Memos 2024 uit, bestaande uit voice memos die ze via haar gsm maakte. Deze nummers waren oorspronkelijk nooit bedoeld voor release, maar Loïs koos ervoor om ze te delen om van haar perfectionisme af te komen en de luisteraar dichter bij zichzelf te brengen. De EP biedt een eerlijke, onbewerkte kijk op haar creativiteit, met thema’s als verlies, verlangen en zelfontdekking.

Dansende Beren:

De Schots-Belgische zangeres Loïs Grant zocht meteen de sereniteit op in de zaal, met haar soulvolle mix van indiefolk en bedroompop. Haar nummers deden in eerste instantie wat denken aan het stillere werk van Ben Howard, maar tapten evengoed uit hetzelfde inspirationele vaatje dat ook Brittany Howard in haar studio heeft staan. Tegen het einde – tijdens “Our Names Mean Different Things” – schoor de strakke band hoge muzikale toppen.

Luminoush Dash:

Loïs Grant heeft Schots bloed door de aderen stromen maar vooral een betoverende stem waarmee ze zelfs twee nummers lang haar vijfkoppige band het zwijgen oplegde. Collection Of Voice Memos 2024 bracht ze begin dit jaar uit en de vlag dekte de lading. In Leuven speelde ze echter melancholische nummers die niemand in de zaal onberoerd lieten. En kijk, Daan mocht ook bij Loïs mee drummen. I Know I’ve Changed getuigt van zelfkennis.

Loïs smokkelde zeker een ‘eilandflair’ in haar sound en met full band deed ze ons in de finale qua arrangementen aan Heather Nova denken. Het laatste nummer was gedrenkt in weemoed en donkere newwaveklanken waarmee we meteen een extra lans breken voor haar veelzijdigheid.

In January 2025, Loïs released the EP Collection of Voice Memos 2024, a collection of voice memos recorded on her phone. The Scottish-Belgian artist immediately brought a sense of serenity to the room with her soulful blend of indie folk and bedroom pop. Her songs initially called to mind the quieter work of Ben Howard, while also drawing from a similar well of inspiration as Brittany Howard. Towards the end during “Our Names Mean Different Things” the tight band reached impressive musical heights.

Luminoush Dash:

Loïs Grant may have Scottish blood running through her veins, but above all she possesses a captivating voice with which she even silenced her five-piece band for two songs. Collection Of Voice Memos 2024 was released earlier this year, and its title proved fitting. In Leuven, she performed melancholic songs that left no one in the audience untouched. And yes, Daan even joined her on drums. “I Know I’ve Changed” testified to a strong sense of self-awareness.

Loïs subtly wove an ‘island flair’ into her sound, and with full band arrangements in the final, she evoked echoes of Heather Nova. The closing track was steeped in wistfulness and dark new wave textures, further underscoring her versatility.
