Trained in classical piano from the age of eight, Lore Dekeyser developed into a neoclassical contemporary composer and pianist following her master's degree in philosophy at Ghent University. Her music is deeply interwoven with her work as a choreographer and dancer, focussing on rhythm, texture and erratic expressions. In December 2025 La Mona Golden Records released her debut album: Loops - for restless hands without sustain. For this album, she deliberately chose to forgo the use of piano pedals, sharpening her attention to alternative forms of harmonic cohesion—tempo, pulse, and drive.

"For this piano album I got really fascinated by the sound of playing the piano without the sustain pedal. Usually it blends everything into one body, softens the edges, ties the notes together. What would happen if I remove that comfort entirely? Suddenly I was left with my hands only. Every note lasted exactly as long as my finger touched the key — nothing more. My focus sharpened. My curiosity too. I began treating the piano as a rhythmic instrument. I wanted the notes to move beyond themselves — into something disrupted, dysregulated, angular & electric."
