John Bafaloukas Trio – Band Presentation

The John Bafaloukas Trio is a modern jazz group led by me, pianist and composer John Bafaloukas, together with Tim Wiegant on bass and Sami Al-Abbar on drums. Our music brings together modern jazz with elements of classical and minimal music, often creating a calm, melodic, and slightly melancholic atmosphere.

As a trio, we focus on clear musical ideas and honest interaction. Our sound leans toward open harmonies, reflective moods, and improvisations that develop with intention. While jazz is our foundation, we also draw from classical harmony, minimalist structures, and cinematic influences that naturally shape our pieces.

We have performed in various settings and continue refining our identity as a group. We are currently working on our debut album, which feature original compositions and represent the direction we’ve been building together.

Our aim is to grow artistically as a trio and contribute a personal and recognizable voice to today’s European jazz scene.
