Izikai is a up-and-coming six-piece band from Leuven (Belgium), getting audiences on their feet wherever they play. Performing since 2024, they have been crafting a distinctive sound that blends reggae, R&B, disco, funk, and blues. Their dynamic live shows recently earned them a victory at the Interfaculty Rockrally, where they impressed both jury and crowd with their tight performance and energetic sound. Juul Aerts (vocals and keys) is a classically trained pianist with a profound love for jazz. As frontman, his raw yet warm voice forms the backbone of Izikai’s sound. Daan De Fraine (drums), who has been playing drums since childhood, is the band’s primary songwriter. His wide-ranging influences shape the group’s distinctive and versatile style. Jari Moerman (bass guitar) is an essential force within the band, his groovy playing adding an irresistible funk to the music. Lucas Nackaerts (rhythm guitar) builds a solid foundation with his inventive playing and a pedalboard full of surprises. Markus Hermans (lead guitar) brings flair and originality through his expressive solos, seamlessly interacting with Arne Verschueren (vocals and saxophone). Arne enriches the music with layered vocal harmonies and powerful sax lines that complete Izikai’s vibrant sound.
