Gui R is a Brussels-based singer-songwriter blending atmospheric indie folk and alternative pop. Combining ethereal guitars, subtle synths and fragile, often falsetto-led vocals, he creates an intimate sound shaped by both memory and imagination. Growing up adopted, with a sense of being different from the world around him, he found himself drawn to the quiet, complicated spaces between people: the conversations that happen late at night, the things left unsaid, and the moments that stay with us long after they have passed.

Teaching himself guitar as a teenager, Gui R gradually built a world of his own through songwriting and production. His songs move between memory and imagination, often beginning with a scene, a passing image or a conversation: two friends talking beneath the stars, a journey into the unknown, a relationship caught somewhere between closeness and distance. Some come from lived experience; others take shape in the spaces between what happened, what might have happened, and what we wish we had said. Love, friendship, longing and the fear of letting go often find themselves intertwined.

For years, music remained a passion he pursued quietly alongside the rest of his life. In his late twenties, he began studying it more seriously, working backstage at concert venues to help pay for lessons and equipment. He went on to release a series of independent singles, including When The Night Moves Slow, Too Bad To Say Goodbye, Get Away, The Otherside and Run Away, while developing his craft through live performances and open mic nights across Belgium. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Novo Amor, Bon Iver and Daughter, Gui R continues to shape a sound that balances intimate songwriting with expansive, atmospheric production.

Now based in Brussels, Gui R is continuing to develop his musical identity and bring new songs into the world. His writing reflects the complicated nature of distance: leaving familiar places in search of a life that feels more like your own, while growing further away from the people and places that shaped you.

He doesn't write to offer answers, or to pretend that loneliness can always be overcome. He writes to make room for the things we carry, the people we miss, and the connections we are still trying to find. His songs are soft spaces for the quiet hearts, the introverts, and anyone who has ever felt entirely alone in a hyper-connected room. As he prepares a fresh wave of independent releases, Gui R continues to build an honest, dreamy corner of the alternative music landscape.
