Judy Vendredi is the new name of the solo project led by the Brussels-based artist previously known as Dorothy Gale. Her path has taken shape at the intersection of the arts: trained in acting at Cours Florent, where she received the Prix Passerelles in 2018, and in photography at Saint-Luc Tournai, she quickly developed a practice where voice, performance, and image echo one another. After several years working as both a performer and director, she brought this narrative rigor into her music.

Under the name Dorothy Gale, she crafted a universe inspired by The Wizard of Oz. In 2023, she emerged on the Belgian scene after winning the Court-Circuit competition, leading her to perform on iconic stages: from Dour Festival to Les Nuits du Botanique, including Ancienne Belgique, Esperanzah!, LaSemo, and La Maroquinerie in Paris. Her first EP, T0t0, explored dark, dreamlike soundscapes. The tour for this EP will come to an end in summer 2025, making way for a more personal chapter.

In 2026, three singles and music videos (June, September, November) will introduce the album even if the curtain falls. With this first album under the name Judy, the artist lifts the curtain on her inner world. With a distinctly alternative pop tone, she navigates between multiple influences and styles, in collaboration with producer Clyde Arcalis.

This album speaks of the resistance to keep going, of the ability to find beauty even in imperfection, even in nightmares, even in chaos. Imagination becomes a refuge, sometimes an escape, but above all a necessity to remain standing. To raise one’s weaknesses like proof of survival, like poorly stitched flags worn with pride.

Her lyrics, written in both French and English, convey the scars of the past like a Saturday afternoon show: real, fragile, awkward.

They remind us that even if the curtain falls, the show of life goes on.
