Bio

Daniel Menezes is a Brazilian bassist based in Belgium, known for his groove, Brazilian musicality, and improvisation.

Born in Manaus (Amazonas, Brazil), he began playing bass at 17 and developed his style as a self-taught musician, building a unique voice that blends funk, Brazilian music, jazz, and contemporary instrumental music. Daniel approaches the bass as an active voice, creating melodic lines, textures, and dialogues with other instruments, with improvisation, groove, and spontaneity at the core of his work.

Among the most important highlights of his career are the albums:

“Bella” (2018), featuring the highly significant contributions of Fábio Pascoal (son of Hermeto Pascoal) and Vanderlei Silva Filho (who played with Milton Nascimento), demonstrating his experience with top-level musicians.

“Homo Universalis” (2023) by Jaouad, with compositions by Daniel Menezes and Jaouad, marking his presence as a composer and collaborator in the Belgian music scene.

He has collaborated with other Belgian artists, including Dala, Kaspy, Nael Issa, and Victor da Costa, and also develops his own project, “Daniel Menezes Invites Jazz”, focused on instrumental jazz music with extensive improvisation, performed live.

He has performed on major stages in Belgium, such as OLT Rivierenhof, De Roma (Antwerp), and AB – Ancienne Belgique, and also plays in local bars and events, including Zomerfabriek, De Muze, and other venues in Antwerp. He has participated in high-profile events, including performances for King Philippe of Belgium.

Internationally, he has performed in the Netherlands, France, Greece, Germany, London, Mexico, and Argentina, and in Brazil in cities such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Manaus (Amazonas), Florianópolis (Santa Catarina), and Minas Gerais, including special ceremonies such as the lighting inauguration of the new Ponte da Lagoa da Conceição in Florianópolis, with the presence of Mayor Topázio Neto.

Daniel is endorsed by Journey Instruments and MG Bass and is available for projects, collaborations, and performances throughout Europe, combining technique, emotion, and cultural identity in every performance.
