Bio
Adnae is a Haitian-born musician who creates music that combines different genres from her bedroom. She draws inspiration from soul, R&B, blues, alternative rock, hip hop and many other genres, combining these sounds into music that is personal and constantly evolving.
She went to a music academy for 10 years, where she took guitar and singing classes. At the academy is also where she was taught the theory behind music. With this information, she taught herself how to produce so she could create music completely independently. From songwriting to composing, playing the instruments, making the beats mixing and mastering.
Currently there are a couple of songs available on soundcloud, showcasing her growth with every release. She also released her first EP called Okay, available on all streaming platforms.
MORE ABOUT OKAY - EP
This EP marks the beginning of her journey as an artist and serves as her first introduction to a wider audience. With this debut project, she chose to start at the very beginning, Aux Cayes (pronounced "Okay" in Haitian Creole), the place where her story began.
The opening track, A Long Way From Home, reflects on the start of her life through dreamy melodies and intimate vocals. It explores feelings of not quite fitting in while longing to create a place where she truly belongs.
The EP's lead single, Middle Child, tells the story of a strained relationship between a mother and daughter from the daughter's point of view. Through honest lyrics, the song reveals the emotional distance between them and the impact it leaves behind.
The mood then shifts with Surely Unsure, a hip-hop-inspired track influenced by the aesthetic of MTV's Downtown. Here, she opens up about self-doubt and questioning her own decisions. Even with a clear sense of who she is and where she wants to go, the path forward isn't always straightforward.
Closing the project is Wait for Me, a neo-soul-inspired song about someone who finds comfort in solitude but still longs for genuine connection. While they may struggle to let others in, they remain hopeful and willing to learn how to love, it just takes time.
