Liefhebbers van folkmuziek uit onze eigen streken weten het al: Surpluz staat garant voor fijne traditionele muziek op eigentijdse wijze. Na het fel gesmaakte 't Kliekske-programma en 'Laat ons drinken' laat Surpluz een nieuw programma op jullie los. En wat voor één!

Surpluz neemt jullie mee op een muzikale reis door het Nederlandstalig taalgebied. Van Amsterdam, via Gent en Ieper tot in Calais... De groep put hierbij uit de rijke liederenschat van ons taalgebied, schuwt de klassiekers niet, maar gaat ook op zoek naar langvergeten en onuitgegeven materiaal. Op deze muzikale reis laat Surpluz zich vergezellen door Jonas Cole en Hanneke Oosterlijnck, die extra stemkleur en interpretatie toevoegen aan dit project.

Hanneke Oosterlijnck kennen we in folkmiddens onder andere van Folgazán, GFVP en RedCoat. Jonas Cole treedt op onder zijn pseudoniem Mr. Jones, en maakt deel uit van de a-capella groep Brussels Vocal Project. Het hoeft geen uitleg dat Surpluz hiermee 2 klasbakken naast zich op het podium krijgt.

Surpluz was founded in 2007 and soon conquered the hearts of many dancers, listeners and criticists in the Flemish folk scene. The past years they played at almost every folkfestival (Gooikoorts, Dranouter Festival, Folkfestival Ham…) or folkmusic club (‘t Ey, Muziekcentrum Dranouter…) in Flanders. Besides that, they performed in the Netherlands (Folkwoods), France (Het Lindeboomfestival) and did a tour in Estonia.

As one of the only bands of the ‘young generation’ folkies in Flanders, Surpluz brings traditional Flemish folksongs with traditional instruments (bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, dulcimer…). They arrange these songs in their own way, with a modern touch. As a quartet they released 2 albums: “De Koperen Plaat” (The copper plate) and “Laat ons drinken!” (Let’s have a drink!).

For their new program they invited vocalists Jonas Cole (Brussels Vocal Project) and Hanneke Oosterlijnck (GFVP, Folgazan) and found new material and inspiration in the personal libraries of folkmusic authorities Herman Dewit (‘t Kliekske), Marc Vandemoortele (VRT - Radio 1 & Klara) and Dree Peremans (ex-Radio 1). The premiere of this new program took place in 2015 on the biggest folkfestival in Flanders, Dranouter Festival and got excellent comments on the website Folkroddels.be and in FOLK magazine.
