Rob Banken is a Ghent-based alto saxophone player, composer and improviser. Combining the lyricism of jazz with the intensity and unpredictability of noise and free makes Rob a one of a kind musician. In addition to being a much sought-after sideman in groups like John Ghost, Bravo Big Band, Kleptomatics, Bardo, LG Jazz Collective, Kleptomatics and RaPiDMan his main focus is H A S T; a rockformation that intertwines noise with lush, minimal sounscapes.

Banken has had the opportunity to work and play across the globe with numerous renowned bands and musicians such as Gary Smulyan, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Ernest Skömsvoll, John Ruocco, Michael Abene, vrwrk, Klas Lindquist, JMJ World Jazz Orchestra, Amaranthine and many more.
