It’s the year 2015. High-schoolers Jasper Poisquet, Arjan Poisquet, Roemer Spreij and Stan Depuydt decided they wanted to play in a band together. Following the standard rock formula of drums, guitar and vocals, guitar, and bass respectively, they played the music they were able to play together. One of them would come up with a melody or riff and the rest of the band filled it in according to their taste. This was the modus operandi of Onionfuzz.

This was not their original name, as some longstanding followers of the band may recall. In fact, they had terrible names at first. After realizing that, of course, such names wouldn’t get them very far, they landed on the name Onionfuzz. This name was something completely different and announced the new musical direction that the band was taking at the time.

With a new name and fresh ideas to match, these botanical boys worked day and night turning over each minute detail with tender care on the fruitless soil until it was ready to plant their creative seeds. Where the ground was first barren, soon all kinds of worms and tiny insects burrowed into the soil; where death used to reign, life now thrived. From the moment the first seedling unfurled its natal leaves, the first note of music also filled the air, and the botanical boys of Onionfuzz knew they could nurture their sounds from the garden.

This abundance of sound was too much for them alone, so they decided to spread their music to the people of Belgium. Luckily, two of the members had a driver’s license, and for miles over they traveled the country in their space van, packed full of instruments, to conjure smiles on people’s faces. This was no simple task, because nobody wanted to give them any money. This meant that if the band wanted to keep a steady supply of beer and marijuana cigarettes they had to survive on these substances alone. This, as we all know, is the fate of many rock bands that have come before us and the inevitable truth that all future rock bands will have to face.

To this day, the band is comprised of the same four members that founded it at the very beginning. Their music may be ever changing but the musicians will always remain. This unique bond between brothers and lifelong friends is the foundation of the band, and also of its freedom. They will never restrict themselves to one genre, they will always evolve and do whatever the hell they want, whenever they want. Always together in union, until the end of time… Or until someone just fucks off.
