This band enjoys leaving the beaten path, mixing English, Dutch, and Japanese in their lyrics and experimenting with alienating sounds and effects. Their music evokes a bittersweet, whimsical world where nothing is what it seems. Enchanting violin sounds, hypnotic bass lines and evocative percussion take you on an adventure that at times feels raw and dark and at other times like a mantra or sweet lullaby. During this ethereal journey, minomo takes you out of your comfort zone with surprising chords, textures and poetic imagery along vast misty plains, to the bottom of the sea or the chaos inside your head, while Marieke's warm voice flawlessly leads you back to more familiar territory. Zowel de lyrics, die soms in het Engels, maar even goed in het Nederlands of Japans kunnen zijn, als het instrumentarium - bevreemdende geluiden, soundscapes en effecten - roepen een bitterzoete, magische wereld op waar niets is wat het lijkt. Zwevende vioolklanken, hypnotiserende bastonen en dynamische percussie sleuren je mee op een avontuur, dat nu eens rauw en donker aanvoelt en dan weer als een mantra of een melodieus slaapliedje.
