Itches zijn Kempense DIY garagepunkers met als motto: "Beuken als een stoomtrein." Hoe klinkt dat? Een beetje zoals de smaak van goedkoop ingeblikte pils, wat resulteert in de perfecte blend van psychedelische garage, 60's freakbeat, primale punk, maar vooral loodzware jangle!

Ontstaan in 2020, net voor de lockdown. Na de release van hun single "Level 25" kregen ze airplay op nationale en internationale radiozenders. In de jaren daarna speelden ze ongeveer overal waar er een kelder of kroeg te vinden is. In 2022 verschijnt hun debuutplaat, "Kingdom Upstairs", wat hen een resem lovende commentaren oplevert, en terecht, want ze staat vol instant fuzz-hits. Wat volgt, zijn meer shows, in binnen- en buitenland, en grotere podia! Zo speelden ze onder andere op de mainstage van het Sjock festival, en deden ze support acts voor bands zoals Tramhaus, Meltheads, Hockey Dad en The Nomads.

"Drivers License" heet hun nieuwste single van het tweede album dat later dit jaar uitkomt. Nog harder en sneller! En wederom beuken als een stoomtrein!

Hailing from the slums of 'Los Kempos', this Belgian three-piece was awakened from cryogenic sleep paralysis in 2020, and has been on a bender ever since.

Their sound is infused with the taste of cheap canned alcoholic beverages, resulting in a perfect blend of wild garage poppiness, 60s freakbeat, psychy grotesque, primal punk, and most of all, heavyweight jangle.

In August 2022, they released their debut EP, "Kingdom Upstairs," on a one-sided 12-inch record.

Seven tracks recorded by three guys playing their instruments together in the same room.

The album was recorded in two days, and put on magnetic tape through a couple SM57s and a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder.

Meant to be played loud, "Kingdom Upstairs" captures the band's raw and energetic live sound, delivering an uncompromising headbutt to the teeth.

Hoe zit het down here met de Belgische gitaarscene? En wat mogen we verwachten in 2021?

Thibault Christiaensen: "De voorbije jaren was mijn frustratie dat jonge rockbands hier niet snel werden opgepikt. Omdat veel jeugdhuizen verdwijnen, verkleinen ook de speelkansen. En toen kwam de coronacrisis en kon je nérgens meer spelen. (zucht) Het verlangen naar het wilde livegeluid van gitaarbands is daardoor groter dan ooit - luister maar naar jonge Belgische groepen als Je M'en Sex Please, Itches, Brorlab en Mitraille. In onze slaapkamers wordt er ook weer volop lofi gemaakt, met Stoop Kid, Barno Koevoet en Frankie Traandruppel. Allemaal Belgische namen om in de gaten te houden."
