Where the big, bad capitalist wolf and his big, all-seeing brother cook, unrest and loneliness form a simmering and visceral reality for many. Where is the room for authentic connection in the rush of the stampede if it is not consciously created?
Between the lukewarm soup and the illusory cheese of the rat race, however, is where the possibility lies. A meeting in a beyond-the-language liminal space, where something new is created with an unexpected confluence.
And just like that, the idea was born to create an album that brings together Belgian musicians with creatives from refugee backgrounds who feel called to make themselves heard.
Musical co-creation thrives on a process driven by (dis)harmony, consisting, among other things, of a diverse polyphonic choir, where all voices are distinctly heard. The voice here is more than just a mere storyteller; it represents the thing which escapes language.
