After studying anthropology and music therapy, fueled by a deep interest in altered states of consciousness and the power of sound in different cultures, Damien Brassart joined the Royal Conservatory of Brussels to devote himself to jazz and improvisation. There, he studied with Fabrice Alleman and Manuel Hermia, obtaining his master's degree in 2022.

The following year, his artistic work was rewarded with a grant from the Mathilde Horlait Dapsens Foundation. A curious, cross-disciplinary musician, Damien evolves at the crossroads of the arts, multiplying his collaborations with artists from music, dance, theater and the visual arts. He shares the stage with musicians such as Akram Ben Romdhane, Joël Rabesolo, Simon Leleux, Mingo Rajandi, Benjamin Sauzereau, Jim Monneau and Diogo Alexandre, and collaborates with artists such as Guillaume Lebelle, Satoru Toma, Célia Rorive, Manuela Rastaldi and Samuel Planas.

In 2022, he signed his first album, “Ode to Travel”, with the SAOUTA project, released by Homerecords. The album was warmly welcomed by critics for its richness and singular poetic universe, receiving 4 stars in Le MAD (Le Soir) and praise in L'Écho, Jazzman and The Moors Magazine.

Following this recognition, Damien Brassart was a guest on RTBF's Le Monde est un Village program with Didier Mélon, as well as on Musiq3, where he discussed his artistic universe in Philippe Baron's Jazz program.

In 2024, Damien was lucky enough to meet Théo Zipper and the Collectif Thöz. From this meeting gave birth to the album “Rivières”, a trio with Jim Monneau (double bass) and Diogo Alexandre (drums), to be released in early 2025. With “Erosion”, “Déluge”, “Mémoires du Nil”, etc., this album is an ode to our inner rivers, often forgotten. In 2025, an album with Joël Rabesolo (“Nàmàkàlà”) is in the works, as is Saouta's second album.

Today, he pursues his musical path with an approach in which immediacy, experimentation and sound research take center stage.
