?Trancewekkende psychedelische golven en hoodoo grooves? Met een gemiddelde leeftijd van slechts 21 jaar, twee flitsende akoestische gitaren, een uit de jaren ‘60 weg gewandelde drum, een soulful zingende haardos en een mondharmonica op LSD, bestormen deze jongens elk podium dat op hun weg komt. Verwacht een stomende set met diepe blues sounds en dito hoodoo grooves, voortgestuwd door trancewekkende psychedelische golven in alle kleuren van de regenboog.

?Jonge band, oude ziel?

Blues met Gentse roots, dat is Bluebird in een paar woorden. De band liet zich al meermaals opmerken tijdens de intussen legendarische bluesjams met Lightnin’ Guy en Tiny Legs Tim in de Missy Sippy Gent.

Bluebird brengt doorleefde songs met harmonicasolo’s die refereren naar de tijd dat blues a way of life was, met echo’s van Walter Horton, Sonny Boy Williamson 1 én 2, George Harmonica Smith, James Cotton en Little Walter. De gitaren spreken, huilen en fluisteren op het juiste moment. De backbeat is steady-groovy en heeft een borstelige-soft-touch. De band neemt het publiek mee op een tocht door de Mississippi Delta en passeert langs de Chicago blues-scene, waar ze obscure jaren 1930-40 bluessongs wegritsen.

• '' All in their early twenties, BLUEBIRD has become a sensation in the Ghent music scene. They are an unconventional blues band exploring their own style & path. This band has no bass, only acoustic guitars, an old school jazz drumkit & a harp, but their sound is more powerful than most heavy blues rockers; without losing their touch with the old school blues style. Originality in blues sometimes is hard to reach, but there is no band who sounds like Bluebird. They’ve just released their debut album, a wild & steamy live recording at the Missy Sippy Blues & Roots Club.
