Bio

--ENGLISH--

Peenoise stands for mysterious avant-pop that sounds ominous, catastrophic, but also warm and infectious. The band takes on experimentation and searches for their sound in a fresh and playful way that brings out the uniqueness of their music quite strikingly. This also translates into their live shows, where they push the boundaries of what a concert can be. In other words, Peenoise is much more than just music.

After an EP released in 2017, the brothers soon moved into the studio to record their debut. Forevergem was released in spring 2020 and received very good reviews. On top of that, they were one of Sound Track competition winners that same year and proved to be one of the most fresh and promising Belgian artists of the moment.

In the first lockdown of 2020, the brothers recorded their EP Headwalking in their 'Forevergem studio'. In their residence in the ballroom at Vooruit, they took their recording equipment with them and continued working on it there. There, they also recorded the voices of sisters Rana, Sherien and Amina Holail Mohamed. In the summer, they headed to the Gam studio in the Ardennes with their faithful partner Geoffrey Burton where they finalised their music. The EP Headwalking (release February 2021) further dissects catchy concoctions into a knuckle-dragging descent into spherical soil, where voices and sounds float on thin melancholy. "Another masterpiece” according to Dansende Beren.

For their latest album Rooms to Dark Boats in the Night and Views in the Light, the band takes you on a journey through audio-architectural rooms. In one room there is joy and hope, in another darkness and mystery. Live, the band plays the music in quadrophonics (surround). For this concert, the audience finds itself in the middle of the concert hall, surrounded by the sound and the performers, making the viewing and listening direction disappear. An intense and unique experience.

Peenoise is also currently working on the music for a new series for VRT Max and two theatre productions in collaboration with De Kopergietery and compagnie Wolf Wolf.
